The Retinol 0.5 Oil
Firming retinol 0.5, vitamin E and squalane oil
This retinol face oil won't go unnoticed in your daily routine. Retinol 0.5 Oil combines 0.5% anti-wrinkle retinol with the firming power of vitamin E and the antioxidant properties of squalane in its formula, making it a unique anti-ageing treatment that's suitable for retinol beginners.
As a facial oil, it is incredibly pleasant to use. It will visibly rejuvenate your skin while you sleep.
How do I start using retinol in my routine? If you enjoy the experience of facial oils, The Retinol 0.5 Oil is the answer. Take a look at its amazing ingredients: you'll see that first on the list is squalane, a natural emollient with moisturising and antioxidant properties, which acts as a protective barrier on your skin so that the 0.5% retinol in the formula doesn't irritate your skin. The finishing touch is vitamin E, a sure-fire treatment to tackle loss of firmness and radiance in the face.
You could almost describe this anti-ageing treatment as a squalane facial oil — perhaps with those extra anti-ageing properties that add so much to your routine if your skin is photo-ageing or your thirties are approaching (we're not hating on wrinkles, but let's not invite them to the party too early).
As you continue to use The Retinol 0.5 Oil, you'll notice your skin's texture improving, becoming brighter, fine lines diminishing and blemishes appearing less frequently. Your face will recover some of its elasticity, looking younger and more moisturised. Sounds good, right? Add this retinol and squalane face oil to your shopping cart right away, but make sure you have a look at the 'How to use' tab to clear up any doubts about how to start using retinol safely in your routine.
If you have very sensitive skin, COSRX's 0.1% retinol cream may be a gentler but equally effective option. Let us know how you get on!

How can I start incorporating retinol oil into my routine? Here's how:
If you're starting from scratch, make sure you only use it in your evening routine. Apply it to your skin as the second to last step in your routine, before you apply your moisturiser. Do you have sensitive skin? Apply a skin barrier-strengthening, deeply hydrating serum before this COSRX retinol cream, such as Hyaluronic Acid 3 Serum, which is rich in ceramides. Always avoid the eye and mouth areas.
The skin goes through an adaptation process to retinol called retinisation. During this process, you may notice some dryness, tightness, flaking... it's perfectly normal and that's why we recommend you start using it at night, gradually and with a previous step that strengthens your skin's barrier function.Remember:
- - Start by using it just once a week. That's enough if you've never used it before and your skin is not used to it.
- - Always, always, always apply SPF 50+ the next morning. It's non-negotiable.
- - Don't combine exfoliants, acids or peels with retinol, either in the same routine or in the first few weeks of using it. If you're a beginner, your skin will thank you.
- - Strengthening your skin's barrier function when using retinol is always a good idea. Meisani's Rice & Shine Hyaluronic Acid Essence Toner is a great option to do exactly that!
